Destinations
Heydar Aliyev Cultural Centre
Located in Baku, the Heydar Aliyev Center challenges traditional concepts of architecture with swooping shapes and a distinct lack of right angles. The structure—which takes it name from the man who governed Azerbaijan for almost 20 years—was designed by the prestigious architect Zaha Hadid and hosts cultural events such as exhibitions and concerts.
Mud Volcanos
It's estimated that 300 of the planet's estimated 700 mud volcanoes are located in Gobustan, Azerbaijan, and the Caspian Sea. Mud volcanoes of Gobustan are a popular attraction for both scientists and tourists, the latter often bathing in mud, which is thought to have medicinal qualities.
Gobustan National Park
Gobustan National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage site located in Azerbaijan, near the Caspian Sea coast. It is renowned for its exceptional rock engravings and archaeological significance. The park is home to thousands of prehistoric rock carvings, which depict scenes of daily life, hunting, dancing, and rituals of the ancient inhabitants of the region. These engravings provide valuable insights into the cultural and social aspects of prehistoric societies that lived in the area around 40,000 to 5,000 years ago.
Ateshgah: “Fire Temple of Baku”
Ateshgah, or the Fire Temple of Baku, is an ancient religious site in Azerbaijan built around a natural gas vent that ignites flames. It's a UNESCO World Heritage site with beautiful architecture and a rich history as a Hindu, Sikh, and Zoroastrian temple. It's a must-see attraction for anyone interested in Azerbaijan's cultural heritage.
Yanardagh “Burning Mountain”
Guests will be taken to Yanardagh, located in Digah village. This is a spot of naturally burning gas, which comes out of ground. The fire here started many centuries ago and still burning. Although the size of the fire decreased over large exploration of gas resources in Absheron, the place is still very interesting and authentic. Here guests can see this natural event and also have a short break on nearby cafe with the view to fire.
Bibiheybat Mosque
Bibiheybat Mosque is a stunning and historic mosque located just outside of Baku, Azerbaijan. Built in the 13th century, it was later reconstructed in the 1990s after being destroyed during the Soviet era. The mosque is not only a place of worship but also a significant cultural and architectural landmark, renowned for its beautiful design and spiritual significance. It is a key site for both locals and visitors, offering insight into Azerbaijan's Islamic heritage and history.
