Destinations
Diri Baba Mousaleum
Diri Baba Mausoleum is a holy site located in the city of Baku, Azerbaijan. It is the final resting place of Sheikh Diri Baba, a revered Sufi saint who lived in the 15th century. The mausoleum was built in the 16th century and has since become a popular pilgrimage site for Muslims. The structure features traditional Azerbaijani architecture, with a conical dome and a stone facade. Visitors to the mausoleum can also enjoy the serene surroundings of the surrounding forest and nearby natural springs.
Juma Mosque Shamakhi
Shamakhi’s greatest landmark is Juma Mosque, one of Azerbaijan’s largest and most lavish places of worship. While the current structure was reconstructed in 2013, the earliest version was built way back in 743AD, making this the second oldest mosque in the Caucasus and the oldest in Azerbaijan. Since then it has been destroyed and rebuilt several times, most notably during the devastating earthquake that reduced Shamakhi to rubble in 1859 and later by inter-ethnic clashes in 1918. Besides discovering its historical and religious significance, you can enjoy simply basking in the site’s elegance and tranquility
Chukhurdyurd Lake
Chukhurdyurd Lake is a natural freshwater lake located in the Shamakhi district of Azerbaijan, about 50 kilometers northwest of the city of Shamakhi. The lake is surrounded by beautiful natural scenery, including the foothills of the Caucasus Mountains. The lake is known for its crystal-clear waters and is a popular destination for outdoor activities such as hiking and birdwatching. Visitors can also enjoy fishing in the lake, which is home to various species of fish.
Lahij
Lahij stands as a secluded village nestled in the Ismayilli district of Azerbaijan, situated on the slopes of the Greater Caucasus mountains at an elevation of 1211 meters. It is approximately 190 km away from the capital city, Baku. The village is inhabited by roughly 2,000 people, predominantly belonging to an ethnic minority that communicates using the Tat language.
